Gregorian Chant and Harp

Jayne Demakos

January 12, 2014 (3 sittings at 1:30, 3:15, & 5:15 p.m.)

Light on the Hill Retreat Center

Van Etten, New York

Stillpoint interior winter

Come sit in the intimate and silent setting of Stillpoint Sanctuary and listen to Gregorian Chant and harp instrumentals.

With silence as a backdrop, sacred music from the monastic tradition–Gregorian Chant and Hildegarde von Bingen–will be interspersed with harp instrumentals in an hour of music and meditation. What makes this hour special is the intimate and serene setting of the new sanctuary at Light on the Hill and the design of the hour: sung chant, silence, and instrumentals, with no applause or speaking, save the gentle recitation of translations from Latin texts.

Three sittings will be offered: one beginning at 1:30 p.m., one beginning at 3:15 p.m., and one beginning at 5:15 p.m.

A fifteen-minute period of silent meditation follows the hour of music. Refreshments will be offered at Inner Light Lodge after the first two sittings, and dinner will be offered (for an additional $15) after the third sitting.

The cost is $20. Space is limited, so please send $20 (payable to Light on the Hill, 209 Blake Hill Rd., Van Etten, NY 14889) soon to reserve your place in one of these sittings. Let us know which of the sittings you prefer or if there is one that you cannot attend, and if you plan to stay for dinner. For more information, contact Alice via email (alice@lightonthehill.org) or by phone (607-589-4419).
