Transforming the Three Poisons

August 5-12, 2012

Light on the Hill Retreat Center

Van Etten, New York

Instructors: Geshe Lobsang Dakpa, with resident Namgyal Monks and Faculty

Medicine Buddha practice is a powerful tool that helps to facilitate the healing of self and others. Students will practice daily prayers and meditations, and receive teachings on transforming the three poisons of ignorance, anger, and desirous attachment.

This retreat will provide basic instruction and orientation to Buddhist teachings and practice that previously have been part of our “Get Acquainted with Namgyal Retreat”. In addition, this retreat will provide an overview and introduction to Tantric Buddhist practice. The teachings will be given in conjunction with a Medicine Buddha initiation, detailed instruction on the practice of the Medicine Buddha Sadhana and daily Medicine Buddha group practice sessions. After the last meditation session and dinner on each day, there will be discussion groups, slide-lectures and other activities.  For more information, visit the Namgyal website for this event.

This retreat is accessible and open to anyone who would like to attend.

Geshe Lobsang Dakpa was born in the town of Melto Gyma, near Lhasa in 1968. In 1983 he became a monk at Gaden monastery in Tibet where he practiced the tantric rituals and studied the major philosophical basic texts.  See more biographical information here.

Cost

The cost for the week-long retreat is $925, and includes lodging, three wonderful satisfying vegetarian meals per day, and all study materials.
