Help Us Renew Our Beloved Upper Labyrinth
When: Saturday, September 29th, 9:00 AM. Snacks and lunch provided. Rain date is Oct 6
Where: Upper Labyrinth, Light on the Hill
A deep connection to the earth and one’s inner self happens when you walk barefoot on the grass through the labyrinth. Mark has been walking this labyrinth for years, as many of you have, and there’s just something special about it. the grand views, the soft grass under your feet.
In the passage of time, however, it has become a bit difficult to walk, with the groove in the path deepening and the earth creeping up around the rocks. The idea of taking it down to the dirt and re-doing it similarly to the lower labyrinth was floated, but we all decided that we really want to preserve the character and charm that it has always had, so we’re asking for your help to freshen it up and make it a bit easier to walk on.
How to RSVP: Please email Managing Directors Mark & Micaela Karlsen at firstname.lastname@example.org
What will we do? The plan is to lift the stones and fill in with sand underneath to raise them up (many of them are mostly buried at this point), and adding more top-soil to the low areas in the path to even out the walking surface. When we’re done, the rocks will be higher and the path will be flat again. Expect to work outside, on your knees at points.
How many volunteers are needed? We’d love to have 10-12 people come. More would be welcome!
What to bring: Good backs, knee-pads, a shovel or garden trowel if you have one, and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
What will we eat? We’ll be providing bagels and gf bread, coffee, and juice when you arrive, and a fresh, picnic lunch at 12:30.
Want to help but can’t make that date? We’d also like to record short (1-2 min) videos of people’s experiences using the labyrinth or going on retreat. Please email us if you’d like to share something and we can arrange a time to record you.
